Abstract
:
Cone penetration test (CPT) is a reliable technique for measuring subsurface soil properties. In most CPT measurements the mobilized cone tip resistance is representative of the formation conditions. A Semi-empirical method or interpretation of such data is presented. The method was developed from a theoretical concept. Angle of internal friction, cohesion and ultimate bearing capacity of soils can be directly obtained from observed tip resistance. The results of the interpretations are in good agreement with observed conditions. The method is particularly suitable in cases where the accuracy of the measured skin friction is in doubt.
